Montecristo Island
Montecristo is the fourth largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago with a surface area of 10.4 sq km and is the farthest from the continental coast which is about 63 km away.
Montecristo is a granite massif that rises up to 645 m, culminating in the Monte della Fortezza, with a small ridge of heights that continues south to the Cima dei Lecci at 563 meters.
As for the fauna, the most striking presence is the Montecristo goat, another important coastal species is the shag.
